Kalpak Knowledge Institute

Vivek Bhavsar is a senior investigative journalist and public interest researcher with over 30 years of experience in political reporting, governance documentation, and accountability journalism.

He has worked with leading English and Marathi newspapers including The Asian Age, Free Press Journal, Lokmat, and Saamana, covering the Maharashtra secretariat (Mantralaya), state legislature, elections, and public policy. Over the years, he has developed a reputation for document-backed investigations rooted in official records, RTI replies, and court documents.

Vivek is also the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of TheNews21, an independent digital newsroom known for exposing major irregularities in public projects, land acquisitions, and tender processes. His investigative work has contributed to:

• Cancellation of the ₹1 lakh-crore Nanar Petrochemical Project
• Policy changes in land acquisition for the Samruddhi Expressway
• Exposure of tender cartelisation in infrastructure projects
• RTI-based investigations into multilateral loans and governance failures

His journalism philosophy is built on long-term documentation and institutional memory rather than breaking news alone. He believes that once information enters public records, it becomes impossible to erase.

Through Kalpak Knowledge Institute, Vivek focuses on:

• Archival research
• Evidence-based investigations
• Public accountability studies
• RTI methodology
• Training young journalists in research techniques

He is committed to independent, non-partisan research and does not accept political or corporate funding.
