WHO WE ARE
Kalpak Knowledge Institute is an independent research and documentation institution dedicated to preserving public knowledge and strengthening democratic accountability. The Institute works at the intersection of governance studies, public policy research, archival documentation, and public education.
Our Purpose
Public institutions function through records, procedures, budgets, and decisions. When these are forgotten, accountability weakens. Kalpak Knowledge Institute exists to ensure that facts remain on record—through structured research, documentation, and evidence-based analysis.
What We Do
• Research and analysis on governance, public administration, public finance, infrastructure, and policy outcomes
• Documentation and archiving of public-interest records (RTI material, court records, legislative proceedings, official data)
• Publications: reports, policy notes, explainers, and knowledge resources
• Capacity building: workshops and training programmes for journalists, students, and citizens
• Public dialogues: seminars and discussions with experts and practitioners
Our Approach
• Evidence-first: documents, data, RTI replies, and verified sources
• Non-partisan and independent
• Focused on long-term institutional memory
• Clear public communication without compromising seriousness

Document First
Every research begins with official records – government files, RTI replies, court documents, budget papers, and verified data sources. We build our analysis strictly on evidence.
Public-Focused Interpretation
Complex policies and data are simplified for citizens, journalists, and policymakers without losing seriousness or accuracy.
